CRICKET: Samuels Scores Double Hundred

Marlon Samuels scored a double hundred as West Indies amassed 508 on the second day of their three-day tour match against a South Africa Invitational team in Benoni today. 

The Jamaican, who entered the day on 103, scored 203 before retiring hurt to make a bold statement ahead of next week’s start of the three-Test series. 

Devon Smith also had a good knock before the Test series starts by adding over 300 runs for the third wicket with Samuels. 

He converted his overnight score of 83 to 174 before retiring hurt. 

At close of play, the South Africa Invitational team reached 17 without loss. 

The South Africans were bowled out for 125 in their first innings against the bowling of Sheldon Cottrell five for 16.
